Bob is in the shed at Eyemouth Marine Services, drying off after a month of Borders rain… most of which seemed to get into the bilge…
Her engine is out and awaiting a full re-furb… Hoping I haven’t been stupid, but apart from being cheaper, it seemed very wasteful to chuck out a perfectly working engine… Time will tell whether this was a sensible decision… I’m planning to repaint in spring.
I have given the bilge as much of a clean as I could… removed great oily handfuls of rust and crud-cake…
Bob is currently in Eyemouth, just over the border in Scotland. She will be taken out of the water in late August and is due to have her engine refurbished. While the engine is out, Katie and I will be giving her oily insides a thorough clean.
I have been befriended by a group of absolutely delightful young (for 80) Eyemouth men who are keeping an eye on her and have kindly taken my sails, outboard, soft-furnishings etc into their waterside man-space for the winter.
